synopsis quote left

These guys were our mates. They went to the village and started drinking beer, they got rowdy, started firing wild shots into the air. You cannot do that, it’s not allowed. So the order came to kill them. These are mass graves.

This one here is me, what do you know, I was in the guerrilla for thirteen years, I almost got court-martialed. I was tied up, just like this mate over here, but then a squadron commander said, “that boy, over there, he’s been working real hard. He has delivered weapons and ammunition to us, he is not high ranking, just following orders, a foot soldier, “No point killing him!” So they let me go…

When you are there, strapped down, you don’t know what to do. You feel desperate, hopeless, you feel death is coming upon you. I was shivering, being tied down like that, I cried, the only thing I did was cry. In my mind I was already saying goodbye to my mom….

This is how I drew it, because this is what I lived through.
