People arrive and they start clearing the jungle, knocking everything down along the way. The jungle soon succumbs and people start planting illegal crops, mostly coca leaf.
It is the quickest way to make a living; it’s quick because it’s profitable, very profitable, but these actions leave many casualties in their wake… and the law is absent, silent.
These peasants are often not aware of the damage they cause when they clear and destroy the rain forest to make way for those enormous fields where coca plants are sown all across them. Then comes the spraying, which creates pollution and before you know it, the soil is rendered useless.
