Time of massacre

This painting is called ‘Times of massacre’ because it was a massacre. Every day one had to see blood and the commanders, well, as usual, all relaxed, over there, in their houses, sleeping, and the patrolmen saying: ‘Go, do everything!’

In order for us not to be too scared, they ordered us to sleep on top of the dead, on the pits. The first night I couldn’t sleep. After that I was relaxed and I just lay down. One didn’t think about anything anymore.

It becomes like a routine.
