synopsis quote left

This painting is based on the story about how I was wounded.

We were in Sumapaz, in the path of La Sopa, Cundinamarca.

There was a kid, a guerrilla member, he passed me by and I saw him, but I thought he was with our troops, it was a cloudy day and our camouflage looked black. Their fatigues also looked black. Then I heard a click, I turned around, and there he was, that guerrilla kid, taking aim at me….

He shot me three times, hit me right here on the chest, on the left pectoralis muscle. I took my gun and emptied it on him. If I am going to die, I thought, then we are both going to die, so I really gave it to him. I fell face down, on top of this guerrilla kid, he was bleeding too, his last words were… “I’ll see you in hell”.

That is all I remember…
